WarpCensor is the latest name for a music performance and creative career that started in 1972. WarpCensor has emerged for the creation of music free from genre expectation and conventions.

There have been long pauses in the journey so far, together with sojourns in Except Buses and tourmaline hum. Today, WarpCensor is creating new music and collaborating with other members of The Committee For Sonic Research's house.

CHRONOS DIFFERENTIAL

Were there always blue skies in our childhood?

Will they be there tomorrow?

Our memories say one thing.

But the only reliable reality is now.

Different Is The New Normal

We must be very grateful to the anonymous lady who sent Birthday greetings to her father via an acetate record all those years ago. How a copy came to be found in a charity shop in North Devon is a story yet to be discovered. From other material on the disc we deduce that it was recorded during the late 1950s.

Elements of her message provide the basis for the opening an closing of this début collection of music from WarpCensor, which is also the second album. The first will appear in due course.

Like the earlier album, WarpCensor has avoided adherence to musical genres, taking instead the firm line that intelligent listeners will eschew pre-conceived ideas. That does not, however, discount future collections from staying within a particular theme if the circumstances are appropriate.

The Music For Not Listening series

WarpCensor has decided to stay within a single theme for this programme.
Regular listeners may be dismayed that these pieces are not designed for critical appraisal; rather, they have been created with a view to alternative uses.

Firstly as an accompaniment to a gathering, or when undertaking a task, when there is no need to focus on any particular aspect of the music.

Secondly, when there is a desire for the attainment of a hypnotic or trance-like state. In this case the listener should set the controls of their instrument to continuously loop a particular item and then concentrate fully on any single component of that number. It may be helpful to stand and make rhythmically matching movements in order to become as one with the music. We have not tried, and therefore are unable to comment upon, using alcohol, marijuana, tobacco or any other mind-altering substance to assist the process; we leave this to the listener's discretion.

It goes without saying that the listener should be in an environment where any inertia or movement during a listening session will not cause them or others any danger; again, we leave this to the listener's discretion.

Following on from the first EP in this series, these tunes may be useful as aural wallpaper, possibly for attaining a trance state or even for dancing to (maybe not the one recorded in 17/16ths time, but let us know if you can manage it). We leave it for you to decide, but do make sure you are in a suitable and safe environment.

More music from WarpCensor to get your feet tapping, mind wandering or just chilling out. As always, make sure you are in a suitable and safe environment to get maximum enjoyment.

WarpCensor's Music Not For Listening series is well into it's stride with Volume 4 – Music From The Furthest Room. It's just right to get your feet tapping, mind wandering or just chilling out. As always, make sure you are in a suitable and safe environment to get maximum enjoyment.

WarpCensor's Music Not For Listening series is now complete with Volume 5 – Music From The Quietest Room.
